Gayle B. Treon, beloved mother, grandmother (Gigi), neighbor and friend passed away peacefully on January 31, 2018 while being cared for in her dedicated son and daughter-in-law’s home after a courageous battle with cancer. Gayle was born on September 17,1939 in Tiffin, Ohio to Albert and Harriett Binder. Gayle cherished her family and loved nothing more than spending time with her granddaughter, Anna Katherine. In her final months she learned she would be a grandmother to twin boys as well. A dedicated Delta Gamma Sorority Member, proud Tiffin Columbian High School Alumni, true-blue Michigan Wolverines fan, retired elementary school teacher, animal lover, avid traveler (who refused to use GPS and stuck only with fold out maps — which she could read with uncanny accuracy) and garden club were just a few of her attributes and passions. Gayle attended Ohio Wesleyan University and earned her bachelors degree from Bowling Green State University in Education. She and her husband, Thomas, married after meeting by chance in downtown Toledo, Ohio. The widow of Thomas Treon, Gayle is survived by her son, Todd (Amy) Treon of Middleburg, FL and daughter, Tracy Treon of Columbus, OH. She is also survived by granddaughter, Anna Katherine Treon and twin boys expected to arrive in March of Middleburg, FL. Friends will be received at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey) on Wednesday from 5:30-7:30 where funeral services will be held Thursday at 9 AM. Interment will follow at Noon in Greenlawn Cemetery, Tiffin, Ohio. The Treon family would like to express their deepest gratitude for the loving and compassionate care she received from Northeast Florida Community Hospice and Palliative Care Association, as well as from the dedicated staff at Cancer Specialist of Northeast Florida, the Florida Cancer Specialist Research Institute, and the James Cancer Center (Columbus, OH). In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to local Hospice and Palliative Care organizations or an educational fund being established by the family.
