Gay Effler Cappelletti

March 2, 1949 — March 24, 2018

Gay Effler Cappelletti, age 69, of Ottawa Hills, Ohio, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, March 24th. Born in Toledo, Ohio on March 2nd, 1949 to parents, Gretchen and Paul Effler, Gay graduated from St. Ursula Academy, and attended college at Butler and then Ohio State University, where she met and wed her lifelong love, partner and best friend, Ron Cappelletti. Together they ventured across Germany, Toledo, Chicago, Indianapolis, Columbus and Boston, where Gay always left an impact through organizing luncheons, gourmet groups, and establishing lifelong relationships along the way. Gay was a true artist and shared her many gifts by creating beauty for her family and everyone around her to enjoy. Her passion for the arts inspired her career in interior design as well as representing multiple artists in the New England area. She was a champion and advocate for children with learning disabilities, starting support groups and being a driving force for change in the educational system. Gay was involved in many charitable and social pursuits, including the Toledo Women’s Club, Gourmet Club, TWIGS of Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Rosemont, the Columbus Museum of Art Womens Board, and was an Ambassador of the Toledo Museum of Art. Gay always had a warm, contagious smile, a hearty laugh, a talent for bringing people together and was known for throwing legendary parties. She will be remembered for her strength, courage and deep love for others – especially her loving husband of 45 years, Ronald Cappelletti and her three daughters who were her greatest accomplishments, Andrea (Ben) Cappelletti Hoenie, Kate (Ramsey) Cappelletti Feher, and Maggie Cappelletti. She is survived by her 6 siblings, Paul Jr (Mariann) Effler, Marianne (Charles) Dozer, David (Kathryn) Effler, Erwin (June) Effler, Elaine (Jon) Golan and Karen (Curt) Eggebraten along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
