Gary L. Swartzlander

Gary Lee Swartzlander, 66, of Oregon, passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2023, at his home. He was born in Toledo to Glenn and Doris (Layne) Swartzlander on February 23, 1957. Gary worked as a butcher for many years at St. Mary’s Meat Locker and assisted many family friends with work around their homes. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a true outdoorsman. He had a sense of adventure and wild spirit. Gary loved traveling with his brother, Dale, to Port Clinton to enjoy fried fish at Jolly Roger’s and sight see around Lake Erie.

Gary is survived by his siblings, dale (Terri) Swartzlander, John Swartzlander; nieces and nephews, Erika (Justin) Henson, Jacob Swartzlander, Derek (Kayla) Swartzlander, Nichole (Andrew) Bentley, Tiffany Paimli, Travis (Kirsten) Paimli; and countless extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Tammy Bates; and brother, James Swartzlander.

Services for Gary will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the Friends of Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge, 14000 W. State Route 2, Oak Harbor, OH 43449.
