Gary P. Renwand, 76, of Oak Harbor, died early Friday morning, November 28, 2014, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family, after suffering over 20 years with Chronic Beryllium Disease and being nursed and taken care of by his loving wife, Barbara. Gary was born January 14, 1938, in Oak Harbor, Ohio, to John and Bernice (Durdel) Renwand. On June 30, 1956, he married Barbara J. Gonya and she survives. Gary worked as a machinist/grinding specialist for the former Brush-Wellman in Elmore, now Materion, for 35 years, retiring due to Chronic Beryllium Disease. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Oak Harbor and the mens prayer group. Gary led the CBD support group (Chronic Beryllium Disease) for many years and was a strong advocate for the support group. He enjoyed softball, camping, woodworking and bird watching, especially the eagles. He also enjoyed watching sports and his grandchildrens activities. Gary was a man who saved everything, knowing there would be something he could later put to good use on one of his many projects. In addition to his loving wife, Barbara, Gary is survived by his sons, Gary Pug (Carolyn) Renwand, Jr., David (Lisa) Renwand both of Oak Harbor, Richard (Chris) Renwand of Port Clinton; daughters, Cathy Renwand and Robin (Kip) Sutkus both of Oak Harbor, and Kimberly (Tom) Brown of Perrysburg; his sisters, Sharon (Ray) Wilburn and Karen Anders both of Oak Harbor; ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and many step grand and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Lyle Renwand. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, December 2, 2014, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor, where the Rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 3, 2014, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 215 Church St., Oak Harbor, with burial to follow in Salem Township Union Cemetery. Memorials for Gary may be directed to St. Boniface Church or School, 215 Church St., Oak Harbor, OH 43449; or the donors choice.
