Gary L. Korte

Gary L. Korte, age 56, of Sylvania, Ohio passed away at home surrounded by his loving family under the care of Hospice on Tuesday, May 13, 2008. He was born in St. Clair Shores, Michigan on January 7, 1952 to William and Mary Teats Korte. As a high school football player, Gary received All- American honors and later married the love of his life, Jane Shields on December 28, 1974 in Grand Rapids, MI. Together they raised their two sons, Kyle and James where Gary enjoyed coaching the boys in hockey and baseball. Gary loved to fish and golf and was a University of Michigan fan. Spending time with family and friends was everything to him. Gary will be truly missed by his family; wife, Jane; sons, Kyle Alison of Sylvania and James of Columbus; father, William E. Jackie; granddaughters, Alexis and Grace; and brothers, William P. Deborah, John Pam, Timothy Annette, and Terry Barb. He is also survived by the Shields Family, the Dames Family, the Black Family and the Schulz Family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary and grandparents, Leslie and Janet Korte. Friends and family will visit at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave., Toledo, OH. 419 841-2422 west of Corey Rd. on Thursday from 5 to 9 PM and Friday from 1 to 9 PM with the rosary recited on Friday at 7 PM. The funeral service will begin on Saturday at the funeral home with prayers at 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of the Resurrection at Christ the King Catholic Church, 4100 Harvest Lane, Toledo, OH. at 10 AM. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or the Alzheimers Association.
