Gary William Flegal, 74, of Genoa, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, December 14, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Gary was born on August 3, 1951, in Akron, Ohio, to William and Grace (Scadden) Flegal. He proudly served in the United States Air Force for 22 years. During his military career, Gary earned a bachelor's degree from Wayland Baptist University and was stationed in South Korea, Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, Ohio completing his service at Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi, Mississippi. While stationed in South Korea, Gary met the love of his life, Sunny. They were married on September 8, 1980. Following his retirement from the Air Force, Gary worked at General Electric in Twinsburg, Ohio. Gary enjoyed lunches and activities at the Genoa Senior Center and valued the friendships he made there. Above all, his greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.
Gary is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sunny; son, John (Shelbie) Flegal; grandchildren, Lillie, Summit, and Bowen; sister, Beverly Flegal; along with many nieces, nephews, loving family members and friends throughout the world. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Raymond Flegal and Shirley Flegal.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Walker Funeral Home, Genoa, Wednesday, December 17, 2025, from 3:00 pm - 6:00pm. Graveside services will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Seville, Ohio 44273 on Thursday, December 18, 2025, beginning at 12:45 pm. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the Genoa Senior Center.
