Gary Earl Fenner, age 64, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2025, with his beloved wife, Diana, by his side. Gary was born on November 17, 1960, in Oberlin, Ohio, to Rolland and Louise Fenner. He was a proud graduate of New London High School and gained valuable welding skills at the EHOVE Career Center. His talents as a welder led him to work for several companies over the years, most recently Quality Steel in Fremont, before retiring due to illness.
After moving from Lorain to Ottawa County, Gary and Diana built a life rooted in love and simplicity. He embraced the quiet beauty of country living, often finding joy in bird watching and the natural world around him. A passionate sports fan, Gary especially loved cheering on the Cleveland Browns and the Guardians. He and Diana shared a love for classic television, particularly The Munsters, and many cherished meals together—he was always happy with a good steak or anything Diana prepared.
Above all, Gary took immense pride in his sobriety and was deeply dedicated to the New London Recovery Group. Alcoholics Anonymous was a cornerstone of his life, and he was committed to supporting others in their journeys toward recovery.
Gary is survived by his devoted wife, Diana Fenner; his sister, Pat Cawres; his brother, Donald Fenner; sister-in-law, Carla Fenner; dear friends, Jane and Terry Randelman; and furry children, Smokey, Boo, and Toby. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, David Fenner.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Robinson-Walker Funeral Home, 165 E. Water Street, Oak Harbor, Ohio 43449. A funeral ceremony will follow at 6:00 PM in the funeral chapel.
The Fenner family extends heartfelt gratitude to Stein Hospice – Lake Group and the Ottawa County Sheriff's Department for their compassionate care and support throughout Gary’s illness.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Gary’s honor to Stein Hospice or the Erie Township Volunteer Fire Department.
