Garnette Black

June 28, 1929 — January 13, 2014

Garnette Chick Ford Black, formerly of Lambertville, MI died peacefully on January 13, 2014. She was born in Detroit, Michigan to Garnette Anderson Ford and Henry T. Ford on June 29, 1929. She graduated from Whitmer High School and attended Davis Business College. She worked at Matrin Perry Corporation, The Park Lane Hotel, and retired from Black Equipment, Inc in 1992. She was a member of Highland Meadows Country Club and the Flower Hospital Auxillary. Beginning in 1978 Chick and Mick, her husband of 65 years, spent part of their time at Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club in Palm Harbor, Florida. They moved there permanently in 1995. Chick is survived by her husband Mick, daughters Barbara Robert Long and Suzanne Tom Dudley, grand children Margaret Ken Crosley, Mary Matt Brandman, Ryan Davidson, Rodney Sarah Davidson, Thomas M. Dudley, Jill Larry Heiserman, sister Nina Jacoby and 9 great grandchildren. Family and friends will be received on Friday, January 24 from 3 pm to 8 pm at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Avenue west of Corey Road. A memorial service will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church on Saturday at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Suncoast Hospice www.suncoasthospice.com, or a charity of the donors choice.
