Garnet Whaley, 102, passed away peacefully at Hospice of Northwest Ohio on March 28, 2021. Previously she had been a resident at St. Clare Commons in Perrysburg for 3 ½ years. Garnet was one of six children born to Eunice and Irvin Kraft on October 18, 1918 in Kenton, Ohio. She graduated from Dola HS and later from the former Warners Beauty College in Toledo. She married Hobart Whaley on July 10, 1942 in California before he was sent overseas to Normandy during WWII. They enjoyed 56 years together before his death in 1999. Garnet was a member of Mayfair-Plymouth Congregational Church (now Marketplace Community Church) for over 70 years and was very active as a deaconess and choir member during much of that time. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, sewing and quilting. Garnet is survived by daughter, Linda McCrary of Perrysburg and Brenda Davis of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Kristin Stewart, Lisa (Toby) Tokes, Jeff (Amanda) McCrary, Sherri (Carey) Stansbury, Craig Hoppe; great-grandchildren, Makenzie, Keegan, Maeve, Rylan, Spencer, Samantha, Curtis, Cade, Cameron and great-great grandchild, Gavin. She was preceded in death by husband; brothers, Richard, Paul, Calvin, sisters, Esther and Mary Alice and great-granddaughter, Reagan. There will be no visitation and a private burial service will be held at Toledo Memorial Park.
