Galen Emerson Orner Sr., age 69, of Holland, Ohio died Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at Toledo Hospital. He was born December 10, 1941 in Toledo, Ohio to Kenneth L. and Helen (Wilson) Orner. On September 28, 1959 he married Etha May Grindstaff. A graduate of Holland High School, Galen was employed as a Truck Driver for 30 years with Seaway Foodtown later known as Sparton Foods. He surrounded himself with music his entire life, playing guitar in his band, “The Countrymen”. Galen enjoyed spending time with his family, was an avid camper and pilot. He loved air shows and owned a Piper Pacer airplane using it for weekend trips flying with family and friends. He was a member of Teamster Local #20 and the E.A.A., Experimental Aircraft Association, Chapter #149. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Etha May Orner; children, Galen E. (Patty) Orner Jr, Gary E. (Donna) Orner and Darcy L. (Les) Mueller; 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; sisters, Donna (Clifford) Vandeneynde and Vickie Hendricks; brother, Ronald Dean (Linda) Orner. Galen was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Helen; brothers, Kenneth and William Orner as well as his sister, Paula Takacs. Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 2-9 P.M. in Neville Funeral Home, Southwest Chapel, 7438 Airport Highway in Holland (419-865-8879) where funeral services will be held on Monday, September 26, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. with Pastor Bill Sherman, officiating. Burial will follow in Springfield Township Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy may do so to the Hickman Cancer Center or Crosswood Church.
