Gael Lester Fisher

Gael Lester Fisher, age 84 of Perrysburg, Ohio passed away on May 23, 2015 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, River Rd. He was born in Lucas County on November 7, 1930 to Lester and LaVerne (Schneider) Fisher. Gael married Caroline Rose Rauch on August 29, 1953 at Messiah Lutheran Church, Toledo, Ohio. Many friends and family will remember Gael by his nicknames of Chug, Kingfish, and Captain Fish. He worked for Bostwick-Braun, Fisher Truck Equipment, Local 886 Cement Masons, and as an Insulator for Local 45. From an early age Gael loved boating and being on the water. He became licensed by the U.S. Coast Guard as a Merchant Marine Officer. As recently as last month and for the past 30 years Gael worked for several Toledo area businessmen as their yacht captain. He captained numerous trips from Toledo to Florida, the Bahamas, and throughout the Great Lakes. He was an avid reader of WWII history and enjoyed building model ships. Gael served in the Ohio National Guard, was a 1948 graduate of Perrysburg High School and a lifelong member of Zoar Lutheran Church. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop 110, as Scout Master, Crew Member Ship 592 Maumee Sea Scouts, Perrysburg Boat Club, Toledo Sailing Club, Maumee Elks, and Division Captain of U.S. Coast Guard Aux, Div. X. Gael loved his family and will be dearly missed by his wife, Caroline; daughter, Debbie (Ted) Cox; son, Mark (Chris) Fisher; grandchildren, Dr. Ryan (Amber) Cox, Kyle (Sarah) Cox, Christopher Cox and five great grandchildren; sister, Linda (Robert) Wolf. A memorial service will be held at Zoar Lutheran Church, 314 E. Indiana Ave., Perrysburg, OH. on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 11:00 AM following a visitation from 10:00-11:00 AM. Burial will be at Fort Meig’s Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Zoar Lutheran Church or to Boy Scout Troop 110.
