G. Eileen Ford passed peacefully on Wednesday, November 8 in Bowling Green, Ohio. She was born in Kenton, Ohio, to Theodore and Cleda McElheny of LaRue, Ohio on March 27, 1925, and attended Ohio Northern University where she studied pharmacy. It was there that she met her husband Richard N. Ford. At the end of WWII and his return from service, she joined him in Maumee where she has resided since 1946. Eileen was a member of St. Pauls Episcopal Church in Maumee and was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary where she served terms as unit President at both Walter Weller Post #135 and the Maumee Post #320. She belonged to the 840 (the honor society of the American Legion Auxiliary), advocated for youth in her service to Buckeye Girls State and was dedicated to serving veterans through the annual sale of poppies and volunteering tirelessly at both the Soldiers and Sailors home in Sandusky and at Toledo Mental Health Center. She and her husband were founding parents of the Maumee Suns Drum and Bugle Corps which later became the Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps. After celebrating 50 years of marriage, Eileen was predeceased by her husband Dick Ford and more recently by her brother Rowland McElheny and his wife Kathryn. Survivors include son Alyn Ford of Findlay (wife Allyson), daughter Patti Watson of Maumee (husband Dave), grandchildren Hilary Ford-Bommarito, Colin Ford, Sage Hess, Stephanie Robinson, Katy and Sarah Watson as well as great grandchildren Raife and Cheyenne Robinson. In the 1940s and 1950s Eileen worked at Tomlinson Drug in Maumee, but she was a devoted homemaker and mother during her childrens early years. When her children reached adulthood she was a dedicated employee of Prescription Supply and Kaufman Lattimore Pharmaceutical Supply. Family and friends will be received at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St., Maumee on Sunday, November 12, 2017 from 3-8 PM with the American Legion Post #320 Ladies Auxiliary services at 7:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 13, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Pauls Episcopal Church, 310 Elizabeth St., Maumee, OH.
