G. Norman Burnett

George Norman Burnett died peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his family on Wednesday October 7, 2015 in Maumee, Ohio. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on March 25,1945. He worked primarily as a heavy equipment operator and then in the glass manufacturing industry until his retirement, and enjoyed having breakfast with his good friends. Norm was an avid amateur radio operator, holding callsign K8ZJC since 1961. He was past president of the Quarter Century Wireless Association (Chapter 142). Though he spent time living in Texas and North Carolina, he always thought of Maumee as home and lived the majority of his life there, finding solace by the Maumee River. Norm was proceeded in death by his parents, George S. and Virginia O. Burnett. He is survived by his wife Rose, son Dave (Sue), daughter Laura (Craig) Lubinski, daughter Angela (Rolf) Granlund, grandchildren Sean, Nichole, and Katelynn Lubinski and Jack Granlund as well as his sister Lynn (Bob) Stoycheff, niece Heather (Patrick) Asbury, nephew Brad Hanna, great nephew and niece Asher and Ainsley Asbury, and his buddy Moe. His family hopes he is able to finally complete his projects. Friends and family will be received at Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, on Sunday, October 11, 2015 from 2:00 PM until the time of the Memorial Service at 5:00 PM. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E. River Road, Perrysburg, Ohio 43551.
