Frederick W. Shank, 78, of Toledo died Thursday, September 29, 2011, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Detroit Avenue in Toledo. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on, October 4, 1932, to Cuthbert F. and Ruby K. (Meier) Shank and married Joyce L. Lindell on May 23, 1953. Fred was a lifelong resident of South Toledo having graduated from Libbey High School in 1950. He received his associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering from ICS and worked for Toledo Edison for 38 years retiring as a Load Dispatcher in 1989. Fred was an avid outdoorsman who enjoying hunting and fishing from Lake Erie to Canada. He was a member of the Port Clinton Loyal Order of Moose Lodge # 1610, a fifty year member of Barton Smith (Triad) Lodge #613F.&A.M. and Triune Chapter #344 O.E.S.. Surviving are his wife, Joyce L. Shank; children, Steven P. Shank, Thomas L. (Laura) Shank and Sandra L. (Mark) Spang; grandchildren, Benjamin M., Lily M. and Elijah E. Spang, Martin T. and Keith G. Shank; brother, Robert L. (Clara) Shank, Sr.. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, William J. Shank. Friends will be received after 9 A.M. on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at First Alliance Church, 2201 Monroe Street in Toledo where funeral services will begin at 11:00 A.M with Rev. Keith Sholl officiating. Burial will follow in Toledo Memorial Park. The family suggests memorials to the Sunshine Children’s Home, 7223 Maumee Western Road, Maumee, Ohio 43537. The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Abiti and all the staff at Arrowhead Dialysis, Lutheran Village at Wolf Creek and Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
