Frederick M. Lumm passed peacefully on April 6, 2021 at age 63. Fred was born February 15, 1958 in Toledo to the late Robert Paul and Ann Marie (Girkins) Lumm. He graduated from Ottawa Hills High School in 1976 and attended the University of Miami (Fla.) on a golf scholarship. Fred completed his studies at the University of Toledo, graduating in 1982 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. After college he obtained a job at Dave White Chevrolet where he dedicated 36 years to new car sales -- establishing a stellar reputation for his professionalism and transparent approach. Fred was very devoted to his career and proudly attended the National Automobile Dealers Association Dealer Academy where he successfully completed the General Dealership Management Program. Fred was an excellent athlete, lettering in golf and football at Ottawa Hills High School and was on the football team that went to the state semifinals. Fred treasured the game of golf and was a longtime member of Highland Meadows, where he was a former Club Champion. He was passionate about Michigan football and basketball and truly enjoyed attending games with his son. He spent much of his time traveling for both work and pleasure. Fred enjoyed maintaining a meticulous yard at his home. Fred loved driving fast cars including Corvettes as each new model was introduced and he was able to test drive them often at Chevrolet events in Las Vegas and around the nation. Fred’s father, Robert P. Lumm, Sr. helped instill the love of cars in Fred’s life at a very young age. Fred above all will be remembered for his class and precision to details. He is survived by his beloved children, Taylor (Michael) Karpinski, Lucas Lumm, Madison Lumm and Ashley Lumm (Christopher) Lee; grandson due to be born in May, Landon Michael; former wife, Kim Lishewski; sisters, Paula (George) Hunker of Lander, Wyoming and Margo (Mimi) (Marty) Dettelbach of Raleigh, North Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews. His brother, Robert P. Lumm, Jr., preceded him in death. Visitation will be Monday from 4-8 p.m. in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 13, 2021. Burial will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. Memorial contributions are suggested to The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
