Frederick Holmes

Frederick J. Holmes, age 78, passed away Thursday, Sept. 13, 2011 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. The son of Frederick C. and Helen Holmes, he was born Sept. 13, 1933 in Toledo. Fritz was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and attended the University of Toledo where he played football. As a youth, he was active in scouting and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Fritz served his country in the U.S. Navy in Korea. He married Diane Naumann on May 17, 1958. He was the owner of the former Westgate Dodge, and recently was a wholesale purchaser for several dealerships. He is survived by his wife Diane; children, F. Joseph Holmes, Kelly John Hoover, Kristin Tom Higgins, Amy Neal Mahoney, Megan Jeff Eberly, and Molly Holmes; grandchildren, John Tyler Stephanie, Stephanie, Caroline, Christopher, Jacqueline, and Zach Hoover; Tommy and Michael Higgins; Maggie, Neal Mitchell, Emmie and Matt Mahoney; Jack, Henry, Ellie, Lily and Addy Eberly; siblings, William, Richard Margaret, and Martin Kathleen Holmes; sister in law Ann Holmes. He was preceded in death by brother, James; nephew, Daniel Holmes and sister in law Patricia Holmes. Friends may visit the family on Monday from 2-7PM a the Walker Funeral Home 5155 Sylvania Ave west of Corey Rd where the Rosary will be recited at 7 PM. Funeral services will begin with prayers at the funeral home at 9:30 AM followed by Mass of the Resurrection at 10:00 AM at Christ the King.
