Frederick Herman Gerken

Frederick H. Gerken age 97 of Perrysburg, joined his Lord and Savior on Friday August 6, 2010 at The Glendale in Toledo. Fred was born in Napoleon, OH on April 18, 1913 to Frank H. and Katherine Damman Gerken. Fred owned and operated the former Perrysburg Paint and Wallpaper for 35 years retiring in 1989. His memberships included Bethel Assembly of God, Perrysburg; former member of Perrysburg Public Affairs; Perrysburg Zoning Commission; Perrysburg City Council; Democratic Central Committee and the Perrysburg Democratic Club. Fred is survived by his children, Fred Sandra Gerken of New Port Richey, FL; Phillip Gerken of Whitehouse, OH and Christine Gerken of Bowling Green, OH. 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers, Martin Beverly Gerken and Henry Joann Gerken; sisters, Marie Bahler, Dorothy Drewes; Katherine Alexander; sisters in-law, Lois Gerken, Evelyn Brandeberry and special friend, Kate Graber. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Helen A. Gerken; brother, Frank and sister, Sadonna Williams. Funeral services will be held at Calvary Assembly of God 5025 Glendale Ave. Toledo on Wednesday August 11th, 2010 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Ft. Meigs Cemetery, Perrysburg. The family would like to thank the physicians, nurses and staff at Waterville Family Physicians, The Glendale and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for the exceptional care Fred received.
