Freda A. Hastin, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on March 26, 2022, in Cedar Springs, Michigan, at the home of her daughter, Lana, where she had lived for the past 18 months. Freda was a long-term member of Gateway Baptist Church, formerly known as First Baptist Church of Sylvania. She enjoyed cooking, spending time with her family, and working on both word and jigsaw puzzles.
Freda was born on September 7, 1924, in Dublin, Kentucky, the daughter of Joe and Gertrude (Prince) Mason. She married Cris Hastin, Sr., and he precedes her in death.
Freda is survived by her two sons, Cris (LeAnna) Jr., of Toledo, and Joe (Savona) Hastin, of Kechi, Kansas; one daughter, Lana (Ron) Campbell, of Cedar Springs; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; and one sister, Patricia Pearson, of Dublin, Kentucky. In addition to her spouse, Freda is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, T.J. and Randall Mason, and one sister, Betty Joyce Szymanski.
A visitation will be held on Monday, April 4, 2022, from 10:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. at the Walker Funeral Home, West Sylvania Avenue. A funeral service will begin at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Don Reynolds officiating. Private family burial will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
