Fred J. Taylor, age 84, of Maumee, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at home with his loving wife and son by his side. Fred was born November 5, 1929 in Middleport to the late Fred and Beulah Taylor. He was a 1947 graduate of Macomber High School. Fred began an after school job working for the Barnes family at Paramount Printing in 1945. He eventually retired as president of Paramount after working 50 years for four generations of the Barnes family. A former member of Pilgrim United Church of Christ, Fred served on several boards and as moderator in 1979. He was a member of Northern Light Lodge #40 F&AM and active in Zenobia Shrine, serving as Parade Marshall from 1970-73. Fred was recognized for gathering the largest number of Shrine band members together, filling the field at Ohio Stadium. He enjoyed organizing golf outings for his friends at Brandywine Country Club where he was an active member for 45 years. Fred will be remembered as a thoughtful, caring, and compassionate man of faith. His first priority was always his family. Fred is survived by his loving wife of nearly 64 years, Lois; son, Thomas Debra; grandchildren, Shelley Doug Borgerson, Tamara Taylor, Nick Gretchen Taylor, Nathan Lisa Taylor, and Brittany Scott Schulze; 15 great grandchildren, sister, Dorothy Friel; and daughter-in-law, Dorothy Buck Taylor. He was preceded in death by his son, Jim; and grandson, J.J. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. where Masonic memorial services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Sylvania United Church of Christ, 7240 Erie St. Sylvania, OH 43560 with additional visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
