Franzcarl A. Hennig

Franzcarl A. Hennig, 90, of Toledo, Ohio passed away on February 27, 2014 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. He was born on July 5, 1923 in Toledo to Franz Elroy Arthur and Helen (Chmielewska) Hennig and he married Margaret L. Schneider on September 11, 1948 in Toledo. Franzcarl was a 1942 graduate of Macomber High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a machinist aboard the USS Allen DD-66, who responded to the attack on Pearl Harbor during WWII. After his honorable discharge Franzcarl worked as a tile setter until his retirement when he began canvas sewing for Ragman and Take Cover. Franzcarl also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Franzcarl is survived by his children, Bernie (Melodie) Hennig, Carleen (Matt) Dodson and Julie (Dave) Schmaltz; grandchildren, Barry and James Hennig, Joe (Amanda), Meghan (Greg Bergstedt) and Jon Dodson, great grandson, Elijah Dodson, sister, Beverly (Joe) Gowing and sister-in-law, Helen Hennig. He is preceded in death by his parents Franz and Helen, brother, Bert Hennig, daughter-in-law, Cheryl Hennig and wife, Margaret. Friends will be received on Monday, March 3, 2014 from 2:00 to 9:00 PM in the Neville Funeral Home, Southwest Chapel, 7438 Airport Highway, Holland, Ohio 43528 (419-865-8879) where a scripture service will be held at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
