Franklyn C. Hummel

Franklyn C. Hummel, age 94, passed away June 6, 2024. Frank was a brick mason for more than 40 years before retiring in 1994. He also served our country by serving in the U.S. Army. He fought in the Korean War before receiving an honorable discharge in 1953. Frank was married to the love of his life, Joanne, for 63 years and had two children, David and Sharon. Frank loved the Lord and would share that love with anyone and everyone. He was a wonderful husband, father and friend. He was a masterful gardener and loved working outdoors on his lawn and property. Neighbors, family, and friends will remember his delicious tomatoes, apples, peaches, raspberries and strawberries. Frank spent the last few months of his life at the Kingston Care Center of Sylvania where he was a popular resident. He shared the love of the Lord and had an encouraging word for everyone there; he even prayed for and with those who were suffering. He made them all laugh frequently with his dry wit. Frank is in a better place now but will be very much missed by us all.

Frank is survived by his son, David, Mary; step grandson, Collin; brother, Donald; son-in-law & wife, Joe and Maryanne Goodell; and many nieces and nephews. Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne; daughter, Sharon; sisters, Lucille, Elsie and Jeanette; and parents, Lelia and Perzie.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024, from 3 – 7 pm in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave, Toledo, OH 43623. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Friday, June 14, 2024, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Memorial Lutheran Church in Toledo.
