Frank C. Scharer , 79, of Point Place, died July 22, 2017 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio Toledo Campus. He was born August 20, 1937 to Clifford and Fannie (Kanavel) Scharer in Toledo. He grew up in Erie, MI and was a star athlete at Monroe High School in football and basketball. Frank went on to play football for the Toledo Tornados. Frank proudly served his country in the National Guard. He retired in 2001 after 34 yrs. of service at the Chrysler Machining Plant in Perrysburg. He was an avid Detroit Lions and Tigers sports fan. Frank loved live theatre and enjoyed traveling here and abroad. He was a devoted family man with a very kind, loving heart. Frank is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Lana (Fekete); son, Greg; grandchildren, Rachel, Kailey and Riley; brother, Ronald (Carol) Scharer; brother-in-law, Alex Fekete; many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Robert, Juanita Lloyd, Edward, Lawrence, Clara Brown and Donald; and favorite pets, Heidi and Katie. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.). Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
