Frank L. Pile, 80, of Perrysburg, Ohio passed away on June 13th, 2023 at his home in Perrysburg. His passing was sudden and he experienced no pain.
Frank was born on July 11th, 1942 to Jack and Edith (Estep) Pile in Charleston, West Virginia. After he graduated from Dunbar High School in 1960 he went on to study Industrial Engineering at West Virginia Wesleyan, prior to completing his degree from West Virginia University in 1965. After graduating he began a 40 year career as an Engineering Leader with Libbey-Owens-Ford, that took him to several location
On June 25th, 1966 he married Peggy Downey in Charleston, West Virginia. Frank and Peggy went on to have two children, John Thomas and Susan Lynn. They relocated to Perrysburg, Ohio in 1976, where the family was raised.
In 2005, Frank retired from L-O-F and began his second career as a substitute teacher for Perrysburg High School where he made a strong impact on both faculty and students. Faculty often requested him to substitute for Math and Science classes.
He enjoyed Perrysburg athletics and would often watch games on the television. He was active in the Kappa Alpha Order helping to mentor and support new chapters and was inducted into the Court of Honor.
He had a life-long love of the Greenbrier River that led to a passion for kayaking on the Maumee River. Being on the river in his kayak was his ‘Happy Place’.Frank always put others’ needs ahead of his own and those who were blessed to know him were made better by having known him
Frank was preceded in death by his parents Jack (2003) and Edith (1998). He is survived by his wife Peggy of Perrysburg, his son John, daughter in law Julia (Schoenlein), grand-daughter Sophia Edith and grand-son Joseph Luke of Florence, KY. He is also survived by his daughter Susan of Saline, Michigan. Additionally, he is survived by brothers John (Barbara Herold) and Tom (Wilma Wolfe) of West Virginia and several nieces and nephews. As a “Papa” to Sophia and Joseph he was very proud of their accomplishments and to the adults that they are becoming.
