Frank J. Persichillo, 92, of Oregon, passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2019. He was born December 10, 1926, to Nicholas and Grace Persichillo. He was a 1945 graduate of Waite High School. He married Mary Liska on May 24, 1952. Mary and Frank became avid boaters and had many wonderful memories of trips they took with family and friends. “Spunk” and “Frisco” named their boat the MI-LA-SU which represented the names of their four beloved children. One of their favorite trips was to gas up and head to Put-In-Bay for pizza at a moment’s notice! Frank served in the US Army during WWII and was stationed stateside in California. Frank worked on tanks and was very proud of his service to his country. After his service, he worked and retired from Sun Oil Refinery where he worked for many years in the lab. He was also an avid sports lover! “Coach Frank” volunteered for 30 years as a youth football coach with the Starr Bulldog Football Program where he coached alongside his good friend Tom Roberts. Frank was so proud of the hundreds of young men he got to watch grow up and become successes as adults. Many of whom reached out to say thank you and visit him over the years because of his impact on their lives. He was present at sporting events for his grandchildren, stop watch in hand at a track meet, words of advice after a football, basketball or baseball game. Often traveling far and wide to watch them play and root them on. He enjoyed supporting Notre Dame and Ohio State football and spent many summers supporting his son in law behind home plate at the Toledo Mud Hens games. After Mary’s passing, Frank had several aides who helped him daily and he became very close with. His angel helper, Ruth, was particularly kind and Frank was very thankful for her. His furry companions, Scruffy and Frankie were a joy to him as well. Frank is survived by his daughters, Laurie (Ken) Dartt and Julie (Ron) Rightnowar; grandchildren, Alaina (Sebastien Drevet) Dartt, Lindsey (Ross) Kwiatkowski, Kenny (Stephanie Cuellar) Dartt, Jacob (Natalie), Nicholas (Megan), Lucas, Michael and Derek Rightnowar; great-grandchildren Grace, Bennett and Emma Kwiatkowski; and sister Mary Persichillo. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; sons, Michael and Steve; and sister, Louise Pillarelli. Family and friends are invited to Hoeflinger-Shank Funeral Home (419-691-6768), 3500 Navarre Ave., Oregon, from 2-8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 2019. Funeral services will begin on Thursday, January 17, 2019 with 9:15 am prayers at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ignatius Church at 10am.
