Frank T. Hammond

Frank T. Hammond, 72, of Holland, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2014 with his loving family by his side.  A native of Toledo, he was born June 5, 1942 to the late Frank and Mary Jane (Calloway) Hammond.  He married Rose Glass on May 1, 1965 and they shared 49 happy years together. A 1960 graduate of Holland (Springfield) High School, Frank retired in 1997 following a long career as a skilled millwright.  He was a member of Ohio Carpenters Union Local 1393 and a devoted  member of McCord Road Christian Church, Sylvania, where he was the Facilities Manager for 3 years.   In his free time, Frank enjoyed reading, especially novels and Christian books, and working in his yard which he kept meticulously.  He will be lovingly remembered for his quiet, selfless and humble nature, kindly placing the needs of others before his own. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Rose; children, Amy (Nick) Zervas and David (Amy) Hammond; beloved grandchildren, Alexis and Evan Zervas and Rachel, Nick and Lauryn Hammond; siblings, Lynette (Jim) Piasecki, David (Pat) Hammond and Wendy (Richard) Hayes.  He was also preceded in death by brother, William Hammond. A memorial service to honor Franks life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 20, 2014 at McCord Road Christian Church, 4765 McCord Rd., Sylvania, where the family will receive friends beginning at 9:30 a.m.  A luncheon will follow in the church hall.  Interment will be private.
