Frank W. Cubbon, Iii

December 13, 1949 — May 16, 2022

Frank W. Cubbon, III passed away Monday, May 16, 2022 of complications of COPD at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky, Ohio. Frank was born to Barbara D. and Frank W. Cubbon, Jr.in Durham, NC. The eldest of nine children, he was raised in Toledo and graduated from Springfield High School and The University of Toledo.

Frank proudly served our country as a US Marine in the field during the Vietnam War.

He loved cars and worked in auto sales throughout his career, making a friend with each and every sale. In his younger days he was a competitive runner, completing several marathons. Later he developed a passion for golf, playing as often as time permitted and seldom missed a PGA or LPGA tournament on television. He was an avid NASCAR fan. Frank loved grilling steaks to perfection and always knew where to buy the best sweet corn in town, even if it necessitated a trip out of town to buy it!

Most especially, Frank was devoted to and proud of his extended family and was particularly helpful to his parents as they aged.

Frank loved a good joke and could find the humorous side of any issue. Despite being challenged with health problems in the past couple of years he never lost his sense of humor.

He is survived by his loving wife, Pamela, grandchildren Maddix, Jack and Bella, his siblings Kay (Tom) McArdle, Kyle (Spiros Cocoves) Cubbon, Stuart (Denise) Cubbon, Barbara (Eric) Beale, Amy (Mark) Bliton, and Thomas Cubbon, step-son Brian (Jackie) Taylor, a host of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, and of course, his beloved four-legged companion, Chester. Frank was also survived by dear and supportive friend, Tom Bridleman. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Katie, and brothers William and Richard.
