Francisco Frank Florez , age 95, passed away Sunday, December 31, 2017. The son of Pedro and Eulogia, he was born October 4, 1922 in San Antonio, TX. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Frank was very proud of all his accomplishments in life for only having a second grade education. He worked for Gerity-Schultz for 40 years. He was a member of Spanish Evangelical Assembly of God Church, Oasis, Secor Gardens Senior Dining Center and past president, as well as a member and past vice president of the J. Frank Troy Senior Center. He played in his band, the Frank Florez and the Cometas. He was instrumental in the development of International Park. He organized a Native American Conference that brought all the tribes together. During retirement, he and his wife, Marie, who was Chippewa, would travel to all the different Pow Wows and served Mexican food from their food truck. Frank would regularly participate in the former International Festival Parade. He is survived by his children, Caroline Faz, Lupe (Eliazar) Lizcano, Theresa Florez, Michael (Lisa) Florez; 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; siblings, Bill, Daniel, Susie, Barbara. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie; children, Frank Florez II, Frank Florez III, Norma Jean Florez, a still born baby girl; granddaughter, Rosie Marie Faz; siblings, Matilde, Pete, Reyes, Lorenza and Magdalena. Friends may visit the family at Walker Funeral Home 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey RD) on Sunday from 3-7 PM with a prayer service at 6:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Monday at the funeral home at 11:00 AM with Pastor Moses Rodriguez officiating, Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
