Our beloved “Pops” passed through the safe gates of heaven on Friday, May 10, 2013 to join his loved ones who have gone before him. Fran grew up in Altoona, PA and then served in the United States Navy during Vietnam. After his service in the military, he moved to Holland where he worked 30 years as an aircraft mechanic for Owens-Illinois at Toledo Express Airport. He was a past Commander of the Holland American Legion Post #646 and a member of Club 16 on King Road. Pops enjoyed life through his love of being with family and friends, golfing, camping, hunting and fishing. He is survived by his loving wife Patti, his “#1 Son” Michael (Julie); daughters, Lori (Dave), Mollie and Leslie; 12 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and his little buddies, Dolly and Ali. His family in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia, along with many dear friends, will deeply miss him. To our dear fighting soldier, you have fought a long battle but now it is time to lay down your sword and rest. As we watched you fight so hard to stay with the family you loved, we could never be more proud of you. Even though we are physically apart, please know that you will remain in our hearts and we will always love you. Honoring Francis’ wishes there will be no visitation or funeral services. We ask that you keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers. Those planning an expression of sympathy may do so in Francis’ name to KOA Care Camps, 3416 Primm Lane Birmingham, AL 35216 to benefit children battling with cancer.
