Francis W. Bill Patterson, age 89, of Toledo, passed away December 21, 2014 at Flower Hospital, Sylvania. Bill was born November 30, 1925 in Muncie, IN to the late Floyd and Ida May (Strause) Patterson. He graduated from Ossian (IN) High School in 1944 and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He began his working career at Dinner Bell Foods in Defiance for 13 years and then spent 25 years with Prudential Insurance, retiring in 1989. Bill was a member of Conn-Weissenberger Post 587 American Legion and Rubicon Lodge #237 FAM. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and watching college football, especially his favorite team, the Michigan Wolverines. He also found great pleasure in spending time with his family at Palmer Lake, Michigan. Bill will be remembered as a good communicator, terrific conversationalist, and devoted husband and father. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Janice M. (Hopkins) Patterson; son, Jeffrey W. (Brenda) Patterson; daughter, Patti (Tim) Clay; grandchildren, Natalie (Steve) Kohrman, Joel (Kate) Patterson and Brad Clay; and great grandchildren, Sarah, Jason, Elisabeth, Cecilia, Teresa, Isaac and Leo Kohrman. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Beverly Ream and Delores Debolt. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Friday in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 27, 2014. Interment will be private. Memorials are suggested to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation (www.macular.org). The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Nader Zeitouni, Dr. Mohammed Mahboob and Dr. Kesari Sarikonda of the Toledo Clinic and the nursing staff of the fourth floor at Flower Hospital (ICCU) for their loving care.
