Francis C. Houston

Francis C. Houston was greatly loved and admired. As a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother, he showed us by example how to live our lives with kindness, honesty, integrity and love. Frank passed away on Saturday January 24, 2015 at the Goerlich Center after a long struggle with Alzheimers Disease. He was born June 15, 1925 to Helen (Folkerts) and Robert Houston. Frank proudly served his country in the Army Air Force during WWII from 1943-1945 in the 8th Air Force 486th Bomber Group. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant. During the war he was a ball turret gunner on a B-17 as well as a nose gunner, flying 12 missions out of England. He owned and operated his own company, Creative Business Forms. Frank will be deeply missed and will always be remembered not only as a loving family man, but a soldier, teacher, comedian, the life of the party, an adventure seeker and lover of 1 and 2 crust pies. He is survived by his children, Thomas (Martha) Houston, Robert Houston, Patricia (Christopher) Cochrane, Mark (Amy) Houston; grandchildren, Leigh (Reed), Brian (Brooke), Megan (Sean), Jennifer (Mark), David, Lynn (Jason), Christopher Chip, Elizabeth, Emily; great-grandchildren, Oliver, Isaac, Conor, James, Samuel; brother-in-law Arthur Bud (Marti) Clifford; sister-in-law, Shirley Houston. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernadine; his parents; and brother, James Houston. Friends may visit the family on Friday from 4-8 PM at the Walker Funeral Home 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) with a Rosary at 7:00 PM. Services will begin with prayers at the funeral home on Saturday at 9:30 AM followed by Mass of the Resurrection at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church Sylvania, OH.
