Francis L. Harris

Francis L. Stan Harris, 79, of Toledo, died Sunday, October 23, 2011 at his nephews home in Swanton. Stan was born August 5, 1932 in Hartford, Connecticut to the late Francis E. and Winifred Mowery Harris. One brother, Robert also preceded him in death. A 1950 graduate of Woodward High School and veteran of the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War, Stan retired from the City of Toledo where he was a firefighter for 30 years. He was an avid fisherman and boater and a member of Harborview Yacht Club, the American Legion, and the Freemasons. Stan was a huge University of Michigan football fan, holding season tickets and collecting game day programs since 1954. He will be most remembered for his caring nature and keen sense of humor. Stan is lovingly survived by his sister, Catherine Forrest Black; niece, Marsha Michael ONeill; nephews, Paul Kay and Michael Pam Black; great nephews and nieces, Kristen, Michael, Lauren, Timothy, Gregory, Emily, Evan and Erica; and great-great niece and nephew, Arianna and Greyson. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. west of Corey where funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 27, 2011.
