Frances “Franke” Loeffler, 82, of Sylvania, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 4, 2015 in the care of Hospice of Northwest Ohio. She was born January 26, 1933 in Maybee, MI to the late Ben and Nellie (Hitchingham) Liedel. She married her high school sweetheart and devoted husband of nearly 58 years, Richard “Dick” Loeffler, M.D., on June 8, 1957. He will miss her dearly. Franke enjoyed art, shopping, painting, playing Bridge and spending time with friends. She was a talented artist and took many art classes at Lourdes University over the years. She and Dick also enjoyed traveling, especially to their vacation home in Florida and to Northern Michigan with their beloved “Lake Family.” Franke will be lovingly remembered for her candor, generosity, style and wit, all of which made her a joy to be around. Above all, she cherished her family and was a loving and protective mother to her five daughters. In addition to her selfless devotion as a wife and mother, Franke worked as a medical secretary for several years and served the community in various capacities. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, St. Charles Hospital and the Academy of Medicine Auxiliaries, a charter member of the Lourdes University Auxiliary, and she delivered Meals on Wheels. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Richard, and beloved daughters, Ellen (Steve) Kalinoski of Sylvania, Gretchen (Ken) Farwick of Cincinnati, Bridget (Marty) Wilhelm of Toledo, Margo (Brian) Saas of Columbus, and Ingrid (Chris) Palmer of Evergreen, Colo.; grandchildren, Lauren, Rachel, Mara, Sara, Marley, Ben, Will, Charlie, Chance and Collin; sisters, Bernadine Brooks and Grace (Bruce) Clark; and brother, Norman (Bernice) Liedel. Franke was preceded in death by nine siblings. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of her memorial Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 19, 2015 at Corpus Christi University Parish. A eulogy will be given at approximately 10:50 a.m. Interment will be private. Donations can be made to the Lourdes University Frances Loeffler Art Scholarship at 6832 Convent Blvd., Sylvania, OH 43560.
