Frances Louise Lemke, 91, of Genoa, Ohio, passed away November 1, 2012. She was born December 8, 1920, in Freedom Township, Wood County to Edwin and Faye Hathaway Wiegman. Frances was Pemberville High Schools valedictorian in 1938 and graduated in 1943 from Flower Hospitals School of Nursing. On April 24, 1947, she married Richard F. Lemke at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Pemberville, and he preceded her in death in 2010. In the 1940s Frances nursing career encompassed public health and private duty nursing. In 1953 when St. Charles Hospital opened its doors Mrs. Lemke was part of the nursing staff. During her tenure at the hospital she served as a surgical head nurse. She also specialized in labor, delivery, and oncology nursing. She retired from St. Charles Hospital in 1982 and then worked part-time for five years at the Lutheran Old Folks Home in Toledo. Frances was a dedicated Christian and active member of Solomon Lutheran Church in Woodville where in past years she had sung in the choir, played in the kitchen band, served on the membership committee, and visited numerous shut-ins. She was also an active member of Solomons Naomi Circle and Genoas Tresetta Club. Frances is survived by her daughters, Linda Leslie Wyse of Genoa, Mary Ann Philip Hinesman of Bowling Green, Marsha Denny Tilley of Temperance, MI, and Barbara Mark Welch of Kellyville, OK; grandchildren Timothy Mary Jo Wyse, Melissa Scott Hodson, Bradley Jen Hinesman, Eric Megan Hinesman, Jaime Alex Roth, and Matthew Welch; sister, Mary Lou Marvin Bartels; brother-in-law, James Alexander; sisters-in-law, Lois Wiegman, Sandra Lemke, and Kathryn Wilka and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Richard, sister, Lois Ann Alexander and brother, Howard Wiegman. A funeral service for Frances will be conducted at 11 AM, Thursday, November 8, 2012 in Solomon Lutheran Church, 305 W. Main St., Woodville, OH 43469. Visitation will be from 2-8 PM, Wednesday, November 7, 2012, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa, OH 43430. Interment will be in the Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa, OH. The family has suggested memorials for Frances to Solomon Lutheran Churchs Stephen Ministries or the Genoa Retirement Village.
