Frances Eileen Allen

Frances Eileen Allen, age 93, of Port Clinton, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2022 with family by her side. Frances was born in Port Clinton, Ohio on March 6, 1929 to George F. and Ariel R. (Pierson) Gates.  She loved to be with people and was very quick witted. Having worked in retail environments and venues for decades, Frances had a knack for knowing what people needed as she assisted them. Frances was an avid reader, played the organ and also enjoyed sewing, baking and cooking.  Her family is especially thankful for her famous cookies, which led to her beloved nickname of Grandma “Cookie”.

Above all, Frances was a devoted mother, grandmother, and sister who cherished and loved her family with her entire being.  She never missed a birthday, knew how her loved ones were feeling and knew what they needed to hear before they did. No matter how big or small the accomplishment, Frances glowed with pride when recounting the events to friends and other family members. She will forever be remembered for the special pieces of advice, humor and love given to each and every friend or relative.

Francis is survived by her children, Georgia (Butch) Swartz, Sue Sours, Michael Allen, Donna Moyer and Mary (Noel) Patrick; 18 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, and one on the way, 3 step- great-grandchildren, and 3 step great-great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Evelyn Smith, former husband Donald Allen, Son David Allen, Grandson, Matthew Patrick and son-in-laws Gary Sours and Kim Moyer.
