Frances Helen Blair most recently of Quail Hollow Apts., W. Lebanon, NH, died February 25, 2009 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital in Lebanon, NH. Frances, the 4th of 9 children, was born April 25, 1910, to Fred and Nellie Mae Cordy in Haskins, Wood Co. OH. Frances graduated from Maumee High School, married Harry G Blair of Maumee, OH on June 9, 1934. Two children were born to Frances and Harry, Robert G. in 1936 and Maryann in 1941. Frances and Harry resided at the same address in Maumee from 1940 until 2000, when they moved to West Lebanon, NH to be near their daughter MaryAnn Smith who preceded her in death in 2005. Her husband, Harry Blair died in 2003. Frances and Harry were members of the First Presbyterian Church of Maumee between 1942 and 2000. Frances was the long time Toledo Blade representative in Maumee. Starting in 1952 she supervised two generations of school-aged paper boys until that system ended in the 1970s. Frances and Harry were avid ice skaters. They also had a strong interest in antiques and furniture re-finishing; late in life Frances became a skilled basket maker. Frances is survived by her son Robert G. Mary Ann Blair of Centennial, CO, her son-in-law Dr. Barry D. Smith of Norwich, VT, sisters Ethel Beskow of Waterville and Evelyn Snyder of Wauseon, brother Leslie Cordy of Waterville, OH, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many friends at Quail Hollow. Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, March 4, 2009, from 10-11 AM at the Maison- Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St., Maumee, where funeral service will be held at 11 AM.
