Frances ‘Fran’ Barkimer, age 93 years passed away Sunday, March 14, 2021. She was born September 22, 1927 to Donald and Evelyn Surgeson. A graduate of Woodward High School, Fran was a gifted seamstress and had a beautiful voice; and sang in her church choir. She was a pre-school teacher and had cared for many children in her home. She married Keith Barkimer in 1947 and together they spent many years traveling to the West with family. Upon retirement she and her husband owned Fallen Timbers Indian Jewelry in Toledo, and eventually moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico and lived there for 35 years. Fran had an extensive knowledge of American Indian culture and jewelry and had a large library of those subjects. She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Donna, Ruth and Larry and her loving husband Keith. Surviving are her sons, Paul Barkimer, Mark (Sharon) Barkimer; grandchildren Nathan (Jamie) Barkimer, Kelly (Marjan) Neceski, Holly (Kyle) Omlor and great grandchildren Emma and Gabriel Omlor, Nikolas and Elena Neceski, Alyssa and Jacob Barkimer. There will be no funeral services at this time. The family wishes to express their appreciation to Spring Meadows Nursing Care Center, Holland, OH for Fran’s care. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
