Fouad “Fred” Skaff, age 81, passed away on September 13, 2018 at Lakes of Monclova. Fred came to the United States to leave the war torn country of Lebanon in the late 1950’s. He followed his sister to Toledo, Ohio and managed a set of grocery stores for his brother-in-law, Oscar Joseph. He was proud to become a US citizen and once established, he travelled back to Lebanon, met his wife and brought back his bride, Lena Skaff, to start a new life in the United States. Fred and Lena, married 51 years in September, have two sons, Joseph and Antony. To provide a better life for his sons, Fred left managing the grocery stores and opened his own carry out, Skaff’s Convenient Quik-Stop. Through his hard work and dedication to his family, he sent both boys to college and they both became successful engineers. Before Fred passed, he was blessed to see four granddaughters, Morgan, Paige, Sara and Ava grow to become young ladies. He was forever proud of his family, which always came first in his life. Fred was also a member of St. Joseph’s church. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lena Skaff; son, Joseph Skaff and his wife Noelle and daughter Ava, Plymouth Michigan; son, Antony Skaff and his wife Angela and daughters Morgan, Paige, and Sara of, Sandusky, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews. Fred was preceded in death by his mother Wadiya when he was 14. His father Salim, brothers; Michel, Edmond, and sisters; Marie and Renee also preceded him in death. Friends and Family will be received on Monday, September 17, 2018 from 9:00 A.M. until the time of prayers 11:30 A.M. at Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St, Maumee. Funeral Mass will begin at 12:00 P.M. followed by Mercy Meal at St. Joseph Church, 104 W. Broadway, Maumee. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Josephs Church or American Cancer Society.
