Florence H. Wheelden of Waterville, Ohio died Monday, May 14, 2018 at Ebeid Hospice. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on February 3, 1933 to Corwin J. and Ruth C. (Fausz) Herman. She was a graduate of DeVilbiss High School in 1951 and from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor’s Degree of Education in 1955. After teaching secondary English and Science in Washington Township and Maumee Schools, Florence became a busy Mom with four children. She later renewed her teaching certificate and was a Learning Disabilities Tutor for Otsego Local Schools until her retirement in 1999. Florence married her sweetheart, Edmund H. Wheelden, Jr. on December 30, 1955 in Toledo and they spent almost 54 years together until his death on October 24, 2009. She and Ed were among the founding members of St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Perrysburg, Ohio, where she remained a faithful member. She was a member of Alpha Phi Women’s International Fraternity, Beta Beta Beta Biological Honorary Fraternity, and a docent for the Waterville Historical Society. Florence is survived by her sons, Jeffrey S. , Toledo; Timothy J. and his wife, Pamela, Grand Rapids, OH; Brian E., Perrysburg and daughter, Martha E. Everhart and her husband, Bradley, Toledo; grandchildren: Kevin D. Wheelden and his wife, Kendra; Alison Burleson and her husband, Carl; Michael, and Jacob Everhart; sister, Marcia R. Herman, Zanesville, OH; brother, James N. Herman and his wife, Carol, Sylvania; great-grandchildren Caleb and Christopher Burleson; Marah and Ayla Wheelden; nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund; sister, Mildred E. Emery; and great-grandson, Alexander. Burial will be private, and there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, 871 E. Boundary St., Perrysburg, OH at 2:00 on May 19. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.
