Florence Sowers, age 88, went to be with her Heavenly Father on May 26, 2011, at Sunset Village in Sylvania. She was born in Swanton, Ohio on September 24, 1922 to parents Frank and Mary Sominski, who both preceded her in death. Someone once said, courage is adversitys lamp. This is certainly true of Florence; as she had suffered a stroke ten years ago which left her a virtual prisoner in her own body. The courage she showed during those years could light up the world. Before her stroke, Florence led a very active life. She loved spending time with her family; and always seemed to have a camcorder to prove it. She also was quite the adventurer. She owned and loved to ride her motor cycle, she loved her guitar, played the harmonica and loved all sorts of music. Florence also loved trying her luck at the casino or playing bingo. She spent time camping in her motor home, which brought her many days of enjoyment. Besides her love of family; she loved her two little dachshunds, Bridgett and Heidi. Florence was a member of the Elks, American Legion and the Eagles in Maumee. Her passing is such a mixed blessing. It releases her from the torment of her body which is a blessing but she will be leaving such a hole in the hearts of all who loved her. Leaving to cherish her loving memories are; children, Arlene Richard Schell, Barbara Forest Stevens, David Deane Luce, Sandra Bobby Stinson; sister, Martha Przybylski; brothers, Richard Sominski, Tom Toni Sominski and Bernard Shirley Sominski. Preceding her in death a sister, Gertrude Kosch; brother, John Sominski; husband, Ivan Sowers and granddaughter, Janet Stinson. She has thirteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and seven great, great grandchildren. Florence had many friends including a special friend Barbara Thomas who will miss her dearly. Family and friends may visit Friday, May 27, 2011 from 4-8 pm in the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee where funeral services will be held Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow in St. Richards Cemetery, Swanton. The family requests memorial contributions to the Shriners Childrens Hospital. Online condolences may be made at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com
