Florence E. Badger, 88, of Genoa, Ohio, died Saturday, June 18, 2016, in Mercy-St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo, Ohio, after a brief illness. Florence was born to Carl and Mary (Sullivan) Heid in Fremont, Ohio, on February 13, 1928. After high school she received a Bachelors degree from Rosary College, River Forest, Illinois. She married John P. Badger in Fremont, Ohio, on June 16, 1956. Florence was an active member of the Genoa community over the years serving on the Genoa Area Schools Board of Education from 1973-76, Genoa Library Board, Riverview Nursing Home Review Board and the Genoa Zoning Board of Appeals. During elections Florence was also a poll worker. She also was a member of the Genoa Civic Theatre, Genoa Federation of Clubs and the Genoa Coterie club. For many years she was employed at the former Erie Ordnance Depot. Florence is survived by her husband of 60 years, John, her children, Joseph P. (Deborah) Badger, William L. (Kathy) Badger, Peggy A. (Paul) Ruby, Mary K. (Robert) Topoleski; grandchildren, Adam J. (Melanie) Badger, Jorja Ruby, Tess Ruby, Sydney Topoleski; great granddaughter, Jaina; and brother, Robert (Sally) Heid. Florence was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Philip and James Heid, and sister, Mary Alice Teagarden. The family will receive friends and relatives at their home; 1502 N. Smith Drive, Genoa, Ohio, from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 23, 2016. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 24, 2016, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 204 S. Main St., Genoa, Ohio 43430. Interment will be in the Clay Township Cemetery immediately following the Mass. The family suggests that memorials be directed to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. The Robinson-Walker Funeral Home, 501 West St., Genoa, Ohio, 419-855-4010, is assisting the family with arrangements.
