Flora Velva Cook

FLORA VELVA (COLLINS) COOK Flora V. Cook, 87, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Genesis Hospice Care in Perrysburg. Flora was born July 9, 1928 in Maumee, Ohio to Leo and Flavfle (Vemunyck) Collins. Floras passion was genealogy, and many albums were filled with the researching of hers and extended family. She and her brother Oscar made the dream trip of visiting their parent’s birthplace, Roeselare, Belgium, where they emigrated from in 1913. Flemish was the first language Flora knew and she was thrilled to meet and be able to talk to family she visited in Belgium. She also enjoyed crocheting and creating the most wonderful Christmas cookie platters for friends and family. Flora is survived by her son, David (Barbara Wernert) Cook and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank her niece Sue Bleakley and her neighbors, Laura and Doug Smith who were very special to her. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Gerald Cook and brothers, Jerome, Oscar and Frank Collins. Friends will be received Wednesday, January 13, 2015 from 4-7 P.M. at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg (419-874-3133) where funeral services will be held Thursday, January 14, 2015 at 10 A.M. Burial will follow in Lake Township Cemetery.
