F. LeRoy (Bud) Parks passed away Friday, March 6, 2015 at the Ebeid Hospice Residence. Bud is survived by his three children, Natalie Hunter (Robert), Cornwall, CT, Cheryl Francis (Zed III), Burr Ridge, IL, and Thomas Parks (Celeste), Sarasota, FL; grandchildren, Nicholas (Naoco) and Amanda Hunter, Zed IV and Michael Francis, Douglas, Catherine and Alexandria Parks; great grandchild, Ray Hunter. Bud was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Laura F. Parks. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Robert Parks (Jane) and Donald Parks (Margaret). He was born of parents Loren and Elizabeth (Swint) Parks in Fremont, Ohio. He graduated from Fremont Ross High School (1941) and Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (1947), attending under the G.I. Bill. Bud was a sergeant in the U.S. Army from 1943-1945 serving as an armorer in the 510th Fighter Squadron, 405th Fighter Group in the European theatre of World War II. He received the Distinguished Unit Badge, Good Conduct Medal, American Theatre Service Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 6 bronze stars. Bud joined EY (formerly Ernst & Ernst) in 1947 upon graduation from Bowling Green State University and spent his entire 43 year career with the firm. He served in the audit practice covering health care, colleges and universities, not-for-profit and light manufacturing companies. Bud was a 50-year Honorary Member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, an officer and committee member of the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants – Toledo Chapter, an officer of the Hospital Financial Managers Association – Northwest Ohio Chapter, and a committee member of Highland Meadows Golf Club. Bud was dedicated to his family and a well-loved colleague and friend. He was known for his good humor, generosity, kindness and relentless integrity. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held for family and close friends at a later date.
