F. Joseph Cory

F. Joseph Cory, of Maumee, OH, passed away at the age of 80, on Tuesday, May 7, 2013. He was born on January 12, 1933 to David and Elizabeth Cory. He attended St. Annes grade school, then graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1951. Joseph received his Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Toledo in 1956 and was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity. He retired as the Service Director for the city of Maumee after 28 years. He also served in the Army Reserve for 10 years as a captain. Joseph was an avid stamp and coin collector, a Boy Scout leader, and was involved with Big Brothers. He was a member of St. Josephs Church, and enjoyed spending time at his cottage on Long Lake in Hale, Michigan, a place in which he traveled to since the time he was 6 months old. Surviving are his loving wife of 50 years, Loretta Gaynier; daughters, Christina Jeff Bensch Cory and Suzette David Dexter; sons, Michael J, and J. Fritz Angela Cory; plus two grandchildren, Emma and Reagan and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, David W. Cory, and Elizabeth M. Hauck Cory, brothers, D. William Bill, and Charles Cory, sisters, Helen Smolenski and Catherine Oliver. Friends and Family may call at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St, Maumee, Ohio, on Thursday, May 9, 2013 from 3:00-8:00 PM with a scripture service at 7:00 PM. Prayers will begin in the funeral home on Friday May 10, 2013 at 11:00 AM followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:30 AM at St. Josephs Catholic Church, Maumee, Ohio. Interment will follow at St. Josephs Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Parkinsons Disease Association or a charity of the donors choice.
