Evelyn Thomas

Evelyn L. Thomas, 74, of Millbury, Ohio died Thursday, July 30, 2015 in the Edward & Marion Knight Hospice Center of Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, Ohio. She had a very strong spirit and fought her illness to the very end. Ev was born in Amsterdam, Ohio on January 3, 1941 to Joseph & Leona M. (Bendle) Wilcik. She married Lewis “Lou” P. Thomas in Rossford, Ohio on October 10, 1959. He preceded her in death on June 30, 1988. Ev worked for the Genoa Area Local Schools as a cook in the high school for 17 years retiring in 2007. She enjoyed embroidery, reading and her time as a member of the Executive Senior Group at the Genoa Retirement Village. She was also very particular about her yard and flowers always wanting them to look just right. During her retirement she liked her regular lunches with other retired cafeteria staff; the “Lunch Ladies.” Of all the things Ev enjoyed doing, her favorite, above all, was being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved them so very much and always looked forward to being around them. Ev is survived by her daughter, Christine M (Robert) Meng, son, Michael S. Thomas, grandchildren, Samantha (Darrick) Applegate and Andrea (Daniel) Ayotte, great grandchildren, Allison & Max Applegate and Matthew Ayotte, Brother, John (Emily) Wilcik, and her best friend and cousin, Frannie (Ray) Grau. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Lou. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, August 4, 2015 in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 204 S. Main St. Genoa, OH. Visitation will be in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St. Genoa, from 6-8 PM on Sunday, Aug. 2, and from 2-4 & 6-8 PM on Monday, Aug. 3. Interment will be in the Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa.
