Evelyn Mae Shafer

Evelyn Shafer from Maumee, Ohio was granted her long-awaited desire to meet Jesus on June 18th, days after her 92nd birthday. With her granddaughter Tiffany by her side, she glided into Heaven in a calm, quiet and peaceful way at Brookdale in Bowling Green. This passing occurred following her several years journey with dementia.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Robert (Bob) Shafer of 67 years and her son, Dale Shafer. A faithful long-time member of Calvary Church, Evelyn lived a life rooted in faith, service and devotion to the Lord and her family. Evelyn's life as a wife, mother, and homemaker gave her feelings of content and peace. This simplicity made for a quiet and appreciated "good life." Evelyn was never far from Bob.

They did life together well. From enjoying sitting outside on their back porch, to faithfully attending Calvary, the two just went together. Often going out to eat at favorite restaurants and visiting nearby attractions such as Sauder Village and Shipshewana, they went with friends and stayed active. She and Bob often hosted fellowship opportunities at their home where they would host bible studies, complete puzzles and play card games.

Evelyn is survived by her granddaughter Tiffany (Adam) Henry and great-grandchildren Reagan, Lincoln and Riley.

A small informal gathering will take place on Thursday July 2, 2026 from 10-11 A.M. at Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee. Burial will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Condolences may be made online to the family at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com.
