Evelyn W. Long, age 99, formerly of Toledo and Maumee, passed away Monday, January 25, 2010 in the Heritage Corner Care Center, Bowling Green, Ohio. She was born January 31, 1910 in Toledo to Frederick and Irene Young Scharp. Evelyn was employed as an Industrial Nurse for Bunting Brass and Bronze for 20 years, retiring in 1972. She also worked as a nurse for a Tuberculosis Hospital, and with children and a home for the aged. Evelyn was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and enjoyed gardening and reading. The most important part of Evelyns life was spending time with her family. The widow of Theodore R. Long; Evelyn is survived by her daughter-in-law, Janis Long; granddaughter, Marilyn Brian Smith; great granddaughters, Morgan and Allison Smith; sister, Ann Spiller; brother, Frederick Scharp; and many special nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by her son, Theodore F. Long; and sisters, Mildred Ridgeway, Margaret Polesovski and Janet Doyle. Family and friends may visit Tuesday, January 26, 2010 from 4-8 pm in the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee where funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 10:00 am. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park Cemetery.
