Evelyn Barrett age 81, of Perrysburg, passed away at the Manor of Perrysburg on Saturday, June 28, 2008. Evelyn formerly resided on Maple Street in Perrysburg and was a resident of the Manor for the last four plus years. She was born to Arthur and Florence Henrietta Murphy Burns on April 4, 1927 in Toledo. Evelyn and her siblings lived in a house, which her father built on the south side of Toledo. Evelyn loved to garden, can produce, was very proud of her house, and loved to drive until she was no longer able to. Evelyn and her family took yearly two-week vacations throughout the US, all by car. Evelyn especially loved being with her grandchildren and helping to raise all four of them. She also enjoyed the company of her children, their friends and many family members. Evelyn attended Martin Elementary School on Hill Avenue in Toledo and graduated from Whitney Vocational School. She and her sister Arlene as well as long time friend Betty Conrad traveled throughout the US and experienced many hours of enjoyment after they graduated high school. Our mother waited to get married she always was looking for the best. She found that person when she met our father by chance and the rest is history. Evelyn worked many years in various positions: as a topographer for State Line Aerial Farms, secretary for Libbey Owens Ford, payroll clerk for American Lincoln BG as well as the former Lion Store. She also held many other jobs but she felt her most important job was being a parent. She will sadly missed by her family: William M. Carolyn, Susan J. Eisenbrandt and David L. Lisa. She will greatly missed by her grandchildren Travis M. Eisenbrandt, Nicole R. Eisenbrandt Evelyns birthday present, Samuel M. Barrett and Hannah L. Barrett. Her siblings that survive her are Eleanor Lauman, Donald Shirley Burns and brother-in-law Edward Oetzel. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive her. Her husband William M. Barrett preceded her in death on June 5, 1998. Evelyn was also preceded in death by her parents, and siblings Arlene Oetzel and Robert Burns Friends may call at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home 501 Conant St., Maumee on Tuesday July 1st, 2008 from 3-8 pm where funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 am. The family would like to express thanks to the caregivers that Evelyn has had over the years and the staff of the Manor of Perrysburg and especially Dr. Donald Vogel of the Family Practice of Toledo.
