Evelyn A. Smith, 84, of Port Clinton, OH died Friday, June 26, 2009 at Riverview Healthcare Campus, Oak Harbor, OH. She was born on February 27, 1925 in Port Clinton, OH, the daughter of George and Ariel Pierson Gates. On July 27, 1943, she married Charles W. Smith, and he preceded her in death on June 5, 1995. Evelyn worked as a nursing assistant at Edgewood Manor Nursing Center, Port Clinton, OH. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church. Evelyn will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends. Survivors include: Daughters: Kathleen S. Eckler of Sandusky, OH, Marcia Alt of Fremont, OH, June Smith of Sandusky, OH and Pamela Smith of Port Clinton, OH; 6 Grandchildren; 11 Great-Grandchildren; Sister: Frances Allen of Port Clinton, OH; and many nieces & nephews. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Visitation will be Monday, June 29, 2009 from 5-8 p.m. at Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 216 Washington St., Port Clinton, OH. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 30, 2009 in the funeral home. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton.
