Evan Muniz

February 10, 2022 — July 6, 2023

Evan Joseph Muniz passed away on July 6, 2023. Evan, whose name means "the Lord is gracious," touched the lives of all who knew him during his brief and precious 17 months on this earth. Born on February 10, 2022, in Toledo, Ohio, Evan was a cherished son of Jackie (Malenfant) and Lindsay Muniz and a beloved little brother to Isla Muniz.

From the very beginning, Evan's journey was a testament to God's grace. He spent his first three months in the NICU at Cincinnati Children's Hospital, where his family received tremendous support and accommodations from the Ronald McDonald House. The selfless care and compassion they experienced during that time will forever hold a special place in their hearts.

After leaving the hospital, Evan embraced life at home with his loving family, surrounded by an extraordinary care team and unwavering support from family and friends. His smile and joyous spirit brought light to everyone he encountered. He loved going on walks, his special bed and blankets, cherished his penguin toys, and was captivated by vibrant colors and music.

Above all, Evan adored watching his sister and cousins play. He happily endured their playful antics, even allowing his sister to “dress” him up, wearing a big smile on his face. Isla was overjoyed to have him as her little brother, and their bond will forever remain a cherished memory.

Evan's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all of his nurses: Abony, Carolyn, Katie and Trish, his Early Intervention team, therapists, advocates, and friends who journeyed alongside them, with support and love throughout Evan's life. Your dedication and compassion will forever be remembered.

Evan was preceded in death by his great-grandmothers, Yvonne, Grace, Janet, and Rose, his great-grandfathers Desmond and Clive, and his uncle, Matthew Malenfant. In addition to his parents and sister, left to cherish his memory are his beloved grandparents, Joe and Lizette Muniz and Joseph and Marcia Malenfant. Evan will also be dearly missed by his numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, whose lives were touched by his pure and radiant spirit.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Maison Dardenne Walker Funeral Home in Maumee, Ohio. Services honoring Evan's life will be held privately.

In memory of Evan, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Ronald McDonald House in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Ronald McDonald House played an invaluable role in their lives, and they hope that, in Evan's honor, more families will find comfort and support through this remarkable organization.

Though Evan's time with us was far too short, the impact he made and the love he inspired will endure forever. His radiant smile, his infectious laughter, and his unwavering strength & perseverance will forever be etched in our hearts.
