Evan “Red” Lewis II, 76, passed away on December 24, 2025. He was born in Youngstown, OH, on March 15, 1949, to parents Evan I and Mary Lewis. For years, Red worked as an operating engineer and was a proud member of IUOE Local 18, but his true focus was always his family. He loved his two children, Mindy and Dustin, dearly and was a proud grandfather to his three granddaughters Evelyn, Quinn and Eliza. When his children were young, he started the habit of calling them nightly to check in on them, and he kept this habit throughout their adulthood.
Red never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone, whether he was at the fair or standing in a grocery line. He looked forward to his regular breakfasts at Sunrise Skillet with his close group of friends, where there was never a shortage of stories nor a waitress left unflirted with.
Red was a dedicated fan of the Cleveland Browns, committed to equal parts cheering them on and complaining about them. He was an avid fisherman and loved spending time outdoors, spending time riding his Harley or playing with his dog. Evan is survived by his sister, Emily Vaughn, his children Mindy (Matt) and Dustin (Natalie) and grandchildren Quinn, Evelyn and Eliza.
Friends and family are invited to visit at Walker Funeral Home on Saturday, January 3, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., with a memorial service and time for sharing memories beginning at 12 p.m. The family would like attendees to bring stories about Red to write down to celebrate his life and good times.
It was important for Red to “put a few bucks in the red bucket” at Christmas, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Salvation Army.
